breakfast

/ Monday, December 26, 2011 /

Just a typical breakfast back at home. Latte. Japanese biscuits. Fresh and chewy waffles topped with sliced bananas and a thick layer of mascarpone. Why did I ever have to leave?

back to black

/ Wednesday, December 7, 2011 /
I think it is time I start blogging again. I don't know what exactly caused such prolonged neglect of my blog but I apologize sincerely and hope you welcome me back. On the brighter side, I think that it's actually snow season. We had one day of random snowfall back in October followed by 7 days of consecutive sun, but honestly, that was just a cruel joke Pittsburgh played on us. However, with winter comes the challenge of styling an outfit that contains a piece of non-black clothing. Nothing warm is ever made in bright colors. But, black is slimming so I guess that is one positive way to look at things. For dinner tonight, I made myself corn soup: 1 can of chicken broth, 1 can of sweet creamed corn and 1 pinch of cornstarch for that slightly thick texture. I liked it. Though it did burn my tongue :/

Currently at my desk with a mug of much-needed oolong tea and lecture slides from the macroeconomics course I just unfortunately happen to have a midterm in tomorrow. Spent the weekend doing service at an eerily gorgeous botanical garden where untamed children attacked my booth demanding Halloween stickers. All I had were tattoos, rulers and spinning tops. Still amusing to me. I stole some pumpkin tattoos and used them to add to the the Amy Winehouse costume I put together. My "poof" was made out of a medium sized garbage bag stuffed under my hair. Which reminds of me how I dropped my laptop on my face, unintentionally adding to the look more than I thought. Anyways, it started snowing where I am and the fog from last night completed my pretend-Halloween night.  Somehow at 3AM, my friends and I ended up in a nearby cemetery which I regretted 20 seconds in. The fog conjured up freaky shapes and my ears mistook the wind for some groaning. I swore I was going to be eaten by zombies. Clearly a bad idea I'm somehow glad I experienced.

I'm sad that it's winter now, which means that Black has come to invade my wardrobe. So grim.

guilty rain

/ Tuesday, October 25, 2011 /

Woke up from a nightmare to the sound of torrential rain and a fierce wind. It was an odd nightmare, the kind that leaves a lingering guilt.
But on the brighter side, it's sunny again here in pittsburgh. No pun intended. Every time this happens, it's a pleasant surprise. Like when you find 7 McNuggets in the cardboard tin, instead of the 6 you ordered. Happens every once in a blue moon.

from the phone

/ Thursday, October 20, 2011 /

Discovered the ease of blogging from the phone. This changes everything. Clearly I'm not doing much work in class. But the teacher is talking about orisinal.com which I've actually been an expert of since I was five and had access to my first computer. Especially the one with the bunny jumping for bells. Mmmhmm! Took a bit of effort to roll out of my 90 min nap to walk all the way here in the unexpected cold. Seriously, this weather is so unnecessary. I'm pretty sure I've contracted viral bronchitis. But I might just be making wild assumptions. It does make a certain degree of sense because I've been waking up every morning with a pineapple in my throat and a fit of never ending coughs which only ends in catastrophe. Explains the Vitamin C I bring to class every day.

nutshell

/ Wednesday, October 19, 2011 /
Having the time of my life doing absolutely nothing. Sitting cross-legged in 4-inch heels, pink CK boxers and an oversized men's T made of supremely soft cotton on a dirty rug. Not giving a single fuck. Honey Bunches of Oats (with strawberries!) cereal in a tie-dyed bowl in my left hand. Typing this with my dexterous right hand fingers. Days like these don't exist much anymore with the adoption of my daily routine. After the tragic demise of my previous laptop, it took me a while before I finally got myself a replacement. I had to live with the difficulty of using a Windows computer. Everything was ugly and slow. Clearly not my style. I prefer gorgeous aluminum and sleek. So basically, in a nutshell, I'm back.

fresh

Just woke up from a ten minute power nap. Popped open a mini bag of cheetos and cracked open my Macroeconomics textbook to page 99. It starts now. Goodbye world.

toenails&genetics

/ /

I want a poster of this in my room. Preferably in a tapestry format. It's just so soothing. I almost bought one that was 5 feet long but backed out last minute. I really wish I didn't because it was 15% off. Anyways, my bangs are at an awkward length right now. Too long to let them be swept naturally across my forehead. Too short to apply them as a middle part. Just another unnecessary dilemma in my life right now. Very much like my want for a job but my realistic barrier of fatalistic dependency.
Finished painting my toenails a vibrant China Red color less than 2 minutes before I had to depart for class and couldn't put my feet back into my new flats. Instead I walked across wet grass in flip flops. I'm sure there are streaks made by grass blades across my toenails. Speaking on toenails, I noticed the split of toenails across my pink toe. A hereditary genetic that was passed down from my mother's Hakka heritage. She claims it is because my Hakka ancestors used to work in the fields all day and all got stepped on by oxen which is why it gets split. Hmmm... doesn't explain the genetics though.

hipster

/ /

Feelin' like quite a hipster today with my shades, Starbucks, scone and leather jacket. I started the day in an adorably uncomfortable outfit consisting of a satin skirt and a tight top that requires the constant sucking in of the stomach. But as the day progressed, I started to change into comfy things. Now, I'm just chillin' in a t-shirt and my stretched out denim shorts. Yup. You know how I was talking about how it is fall in Pittsburgh? Well guess what, I lied. It's a stunning 75 degrees today, making my mediocre view from my room a little more fabulous. Don't forget to check out the awesome sunset Flash clip I made!! Hehe.

karma

/ Tuesday, September 20, 2011 /
I accidentaly donated $5 to Relay for Life. But I guess it is for a good cause so I'm not concerned at all about it. Also, I found someone's wallet and e-mailed them so they could pick it up. Too much good karma flowing my way. I might as well attend the Technical Opportunies Conference and test how far karma stretches. Maybe I will even get an internship in something that's not even my field.

green tea

/ Monday, September 19, 2011 /

Now that recruitment is finally over. I can just curl up with my mug of green tea and delicious candy mmMMM. I just have so much time now and I don't even have a Japanese quiz tomorrow! Today is glorious. Even the raindrops outside seem to look more like crystals and not tears.
PS: Finally got my camera back so more posts yippee!

denial

/ Thursday, September 15, 2011 /

I'm in denial. Could the weather really be 52 high 46 low here? Do I really have to start wearing stuffy jeans again? It's way too soon. At least I got to wear my good-lookin' peacoat with my boots today. I tried to wear this coat yesterday but the temperature was way too warm for that. I really should be careful what I wish for. Oh, I'm in love with my boots. I was so close to sending them back to Macy's because I thought that they were unsuitable for my style. But I decided to sneak a wear into them and ended up getting compliments all day. There was no way I was going to send them back after that. It's fate.

have an amazing day

/ Monday, September 12, 2011 /

We made cards for the elderly today. Made sure not to include anything that might cause controversy. Like Get Well Soon! Or... Live Long and Prosper. That would be bad. I wonder how I would feel if I were old and wrinkly and some random teenage stranger gave me a card. Probably a little what the f. Appreciative? Maybe. But in all honesty, who doesn't like receiving a little something something. Especially if it's colorful and homemade. Like m&m cookies!

steak&eggs

/ Sunday, September 11, 2011 /

The boyfriend made me steak and eggs for dinner today. He's a keeper!
I guess this is what happens when the boyfriend takes over the cooking responsibilities. The meals get pretty manly.

desk&dinner

/ Saturday, September 10, 2011 /

Got a small bundle of animals gathered on my desk. Painted the piggy at Color Me Mine and received the turtle from my big when she went to Mexico. Another bundle consists of the odd skin care items I use everyday. But anyways, almost made myself another box of mac&cheese. I swear I'm addicted. Decided last minute to make some dumplings and tang yuan filled with sweet black sesame paste. Best decision made today. Tried to take pictures of my meal but by the time I remembered, everything was already residing within my stomach. And we're throwing a blacklight party tonight which explains the packs and packs of white shirts. One more week of partying and I can finally say I'm done. I'm getting too old for this.

mac&cheese

/ Thursday, September 8, 2011 /

Just got out of class. Professor had these yellow underarm sweat stains that I could not help staring at every time he raised his arms in lecturing enthusiasm. Debating whether or not to make myself some macaroni and cheese. It's lunch time but I want to save it for a midnight snack. Should I eat it now or wait till late night and experience maximum satisfaction then? In the meantime, I'm just nibbling on a couple cookies from Japan. Delicious buttery thin crispy cookies with a thin layer of white chocolate sandwiched in between. It's like a party on my tongue. But seriously, this box of macaroni and cheese is tempting me. Sending me lustful looks from my drawer. I'm not sure how much longer I can resist.

Oh and I think it's fall. The temperature is getting chilly meaning perfect for scarves and cardigans. Today I sported a thin plaid scarf that Eileen and Joyce brought back for me all the way from Italy. I feel fashionable instantly.

happy birthday patrice!

/ Thursday, September 1, 2011 /

This post is pretty much self explanatory. Much love and happy birthday to you, babe!

bigger is better

/ Thursday, August 18, 2011 /

I guess I discovered how much nicer pictures look when they're bigger. The bigger the better. The more the merrier. Cities look good too. And so does a table filled with Mom's cooking. I've also been loving accessories. Especially the bracelet Patrice made me. It was lonely on my wrist so I made another consisting of hex nuts to accompany hers. Oh, and I also added two hairbands.

standard

Got myself a sweet new lens. Not the one pictured though. That is my old lens. The one that came with the camera. It was nice. But not awesome. I feel unnecessarily professional with my new lens and it only cost a shallow hole from my pocket. As I peek through the viewfinder, my shitty day looks a bit more bootylicious.

rekindling

/ Wednesday, August 17, 2011 /
The tm-sunset. Really. This place will most definitely be missed. I really hope new buildings won't get constructed anywhere near this view. Ran a few miles on the canal today. The weather was breezy, quite rare here for the middle of August. But a pool of sweat still gathered in the hollows of my collarbone.

Just a couple things that are "on" during my on-off relationship with them. Washi tape in all it's colorful glory. Travel sized makeup (especially my Estee Lauder Crystal Lipstick in Crystal Baby) and those miniature bottles from Muji that I squeeze all my skincare products into. Bean curd that consists of basically zero calories and makes me sweat like a teenage boy on his first date. My Razer Orochi mouse that emits a pretty blue light. Glasses. Especially Ray-Ban ones. And well, children books.

it's nights like these

/ Monday, August 15, 2011 /

It's the midnight gathering of the TMC. Walking in the middle of the road. Drinking beer on rooftop gardens. Dining at breakfast shops at 2 in the morning. 3 hour strolls on the canal. These are the memories of the past that I will always remember. I love our crew.

sheer tops

/ Thursday, August 11, 2011 /
For some reason, I've been obsessed with sheer tops lately. No more cotton t-shirts for me. I just bought one today in nude and it makes me happy. Happy!
